This is a topic that is hard for people myself included. I love bread, pasta all things carbs and well, gluten. However, IMO, gluten is really the devil in our food system. It wreaks havoc on most people’s digestive tract and you may not even know it until you start to notice other symptoms like brain fog, bloating, and those little red bumps on the back of your arms.
The other scary thing is it causes inflammation which many believe is the root of all disease. I took a food sensitivity test once and found out I was highly sensitive to gluten. Not celiac but highly sensitive. I can eat it and function but I have noticed the more I get rid of it in my diet I feel better.
Foods that may surprise you that contain gluten:
chicken broth
breaded meats
soy sauce
some salad dressings
creamy soups
licorice and candy
seasonings
protein bars

Gluten is one ingredient we all love in bread or our favorite pizza dough, but it’s often the cause of inflammation and leaky gut, which is implicated in so many health conditions such as IBS, skin problems, Hashimoto’s, high blood pressure, and more. And it is not just people with celiac disease who are affected. -Dr. Mark Hyman
The more you limit processed foods the better. It can seem overwhelming at first but if you take it one meal at a time it eventually becomes second nature. For more help on nutrition or a more individualized plan, send me a message!
